Blue-Grey All-American Combine: Las Vegas Regional Scouting Report (2016)
After receiving the invite months, and months ago, then deciding the venue was a good fit based on past success, Silverado High (NV) once again hosted the Blue-Grey All-American Combine.
NFL veterans Randall Cunningham, Mark McMillian and Ron Scoggins were the lead instructors and had nothing but good things to say about the talent in attendance at the Las Vegas Regional.
So without further ado, here’s a look at the individuals who moved closer toward securing a roster spot in the All-American Super Regional Combine, possibly thereafter, the All-American Bowl.
Vladimir Plotnikov, QB, Centennial (NV): Underclassman or not, the 6-foot-1 and 175-pound sophomore often played with the poise of a veteran. In due time, watch out. Sky’s the limit.
Tyree Riley, RB, Cimarron (LV): The 5-11 and 180-pound junior opened up some eyes early during the process. Little, or nothing, changed thereafter. He finished the session strong.
Keiki Misipeka, RB, Silverado (NV): For the second time in an as many workouts, the 5-8 and 175-pound junior left a lasting impression. Playing at the next level is in the cards for him.
Ricardo Hill, RB, Bonanza (NV): Never one to back down from a challenge, regardless of the task presented to him, the 5-11 and 180-pound junior passed each of the afternoon’s tests.
Randal Grimes, WR, Desert Pines (NV): The 6-4 and 205-pound junior was without peer. Suppose that best explains why his scholarship count is well over double digits at this stage.
Maleek Barkley, WR, Bishop Gorman (NV): On the official roster, a prior engagement prevented the 6-foot and 183-pound junior from making an appearance. He remains on the radar.
Mark McMillian Jr., WR, Hamilton (AZ): The 6-1 and 170-pound sophomore was not intimidated by the big stage and did well with all eyes on him. His future is bright. Stay tuned.
Kentrell Petitie, WR, Chaparral (NV): In search of extra reps, the 6-foot and 170-pound junior did the little things to get noticed by scouts. Settling for second best was not an option.
Tony Fields, LB, Desert Pines (NV): The 6-2 and 205-pound junior has no shortage of offers and appears destined to make an immediate impact once he steps foot on a college campus.
Jordan Walker, LB, Silverado (NV): A recent transfer from the Hawaii, the 6-1 and 205-pound junior has not had much, if any, problem with making a rather seamless transition stateside.
C.J. Araujo, LB, Green Valley (NV): The 6-foot and 220-pound junior did a little bit of everything, most of it well. No challenge was too difficult for him to overcome in this particular setting.
Jonathan Pickett, LB, Silverado (NV): Just wait, you heard it here first, the 6-1 and 205-pound freshman is well on his way to making a name for himself. Full speed ahead for this young man.
Malik Hausman, DB, Bishop Gorman (NV): The 5-11 and 170-pound junior did well during skills testing and one-on-one drills. Without a doubt, he was the top prospect at his spot on the field.
Franco Rodriguez, DB, Silverado (NV): Once a relative unknown on the recruiting landscape, the days of flying underneath the radar are coming to an end for the 5-9 and 160-pound junior.
Mike Sims, DB, Arbor View (NV): The 6-1 and 185-pound junior planned to attend the workout, and similar to Barkley, an unforeseen circumstance forced him to the sidelines for this one.
Greg Rogers, DL, Arbor View (NV): With a resume that continues to improve, and 25-plus major offers in hand, the 6-4 and 298-pound junior was the workout’s most well-known national name.
Jonathon Maxey, DL Legacy (NV): The 6-3 and 265-pound junior measured up to his many more well-known peers. With similar efforts moving forward, he will soon be a force to reckon with.
Poutasi Poutasi, OL, Desert Pines (NV): The 6-4 and 295-pound junior, with NFL bloodlines, is another recruit that colleges from all over the country are keeping tabs on. Rightfully so.
Jacob Isaia, OL, Bishop Gorman (NV): Once words spreads about his effort here, it will only be a mere matter of time before schools start to contact the 6-3 and 275-pound sophomore.
Edgar Burrola, OL, Palo Verde (NV): The 6-6 and 280-pound junior was big, and strong, and fast. Pound for pound, he was about as well-rounded as they come. He held his own, in fact.
Ryan Scoggins, OL, Silverado (NV): A physical specimen, with a vastly improved skill set, the 6-4 and 330-pound junior took steps in the right direction. College could soon come calling.
William Brewer, OL, Liberty (NV): The 6-3 and 275-pound junior had an unmatched work ethic. Seemingly never tired, or gassed, his motor did not stop. It was full-speed ahead for him.
