Blue-Grey All-American Combine: Northern Super Scouting Report (2017)

A Marshall commit, Dalton Tucker was one of the more recognizable prospects on hand for the Blue-Grey All-American Combine in Canton (OH).

Once again, back in familiar surroundings, the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton (OH) opened its doors to host the Blue-Grey All-American Combine (Northern Regional).

Similar to year’s past, as one can imagine, the weekend’s events proved to particularly memorable for everyone involved. Prospects and parents alike, to be a bit more specific.

NFL veteran Mark McMillian was the lead instructor and worked with one-time professional peer Tim Anderson. Also on hand were NFL veteran trainers Rodney Beasley and Reggie Young.

What follows is a closer look at several of the many individuals who left a lasting impression on the powers that be. That said, let’s go ahead and get started with the list of who’s who.

Lance Lambert, QB, West Jefferson (OH): With visits already to schools in the MAC underneath his belt, the 6-foot-1 and 185-pound senior opened up eyes.

Shea Goss, RB, Lancaster (OH): The 5-11 and 220-pound senior has received interest from the likes of Army and Ohio. And rightfully so, given his skill set.

Triston Campbell, RB, Central (MO): A target of the Mountain West Conference, with an Air Force offer, the 6-2 and 220-pound senior stood out in the crowd.

Cameron Clark, RB, Bishop Miege (MO): The 5-8 and 165-pound senior caught the attention of many and Pioneer Football League teams have him on the radar.

Chris Payne, RB, St. Xavier (OH): An underclassman, the 6-2 and 205-pound junior has tons of upside, as does Zaheer Seabrooks from Bethlehem Catholic (PA).

Everett Williams, RB, Lexington (AL): The 6-1 and 220-pound senior is more of a fullback, who can play linebacker. Same for Riley Smieja from Royalton (MN).

Trent Davies, RB, Buckeye Valley (OH): The 5-8 and 173-pound senior tested well, so did Grant Wheeler from Shawnee (OH) and Cade Wood from United (OH).

Logan Doyle, WR, Fayette Academy (TN): The American Athletic Conference, namely Memphis, could be a potential good fit for the 6-5 and 200-pound senior.

David Queen, WR, Northeastern (OH): The 6-1 and 215-pound junior delivered during skills testing and then held his own once the one-on-ones got started.

Tyler Beisner, WR, North Oldham (KY): Can’t measure heart and the 5-10 and 145-pound senior has plenty of it. Plus, his hands were some of the best in attendance.

Mike Mincey, DB, Boyd Buchanan (TN): With feelers from the Ohio Valley Football Conference, the 5-11 and 180-pound senior seems destined to play on Saturdays.

Justin Rodgers, DB, Cary (NC): The 5-9 and 170-pound senior gave maximum effort and earned respect from not only his counterparts, but the coaching staff.

Peyton Fansher, LB, Blue Springs South (MO): Seemingly the top player at his position, the 6-foot and 175-pound senior went out and got the job done.

Ayden Camp, LB, Conner (KY): The 6-foot and 175-pound did well, with Teddy Letonoff from Sussex Tech (DE) and Garrett Mingucci from Helias Catholic (MO).

Dalton Tucker, OL, Bourbon County (KY): A Marshall commit, the 6-6 and 295-pound senior was truly a force to be reckon with down in the trenches.

Colin Mott, OL, Colonial Heights (VA): The 6-4 and 265-pound senior recently talked with the Big South Conference and Mid-American Conference (MAC).

Jake McCannon, OL, Crest Ridge (OH): Missouri State and Southern Illinois might be considered two of the front-runners for the 6-3 and 280-pound senior.

Owen Leible, OL, Jackson (MO): The 6-4 and 290-pound senior looked the part and played the part. If he stays focused on the task at hand, sky’s the limit.

Melik Owens, DL, Cy-Ridge (TX): Boise State, Houston, Kansas and UTSA are schools who have remained in constant contact with the 6-2 and 215-pound senior.

Dawson Stalker, DL, Johnson Central (KY): The 6-3 and 310-pound senior appears more than capable of contributing, for example, in the Sun Belt Conference.

Alefosio Saipaia, DL, McKinley (OH): No stranger to the environment, or the brand’s workout circuit, the 6-2 and 295-pound senior impressed the onlookers.

Matthew Gast, DL, Knightdale (NC): The 6-3 and 250-pound senior did a little bit of everything, most of it well. Same goes for Joey Slackman from Commack (NY).

Editor’s Note: Those who did well at this workout, in time, could be invited to one of the brand’s All-American Bowls held at NFL stadium and nationally broadcast on ESPN’s family of networks.

The games take place at Dallas Cowboys’ AT&T Stadium, Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ Raymond James Stadium, Jacksonville Jaguars’ EverBank Field or possibly San Francisco 49ers’ Levi’s Stadium.

Moving forward, the Blue-Grey Football Selection Committee will consider a number of different factors before making an all-important decision on invites to the All-American Bowl. Stay tuned.
