Blue-Grey All-American Combine: San Diego Regional Scouting Report (2016)
The nationwide Blue-Grey All-American Combine stopped this past weekend in San Diego (CA). Once there, NFL veterans Larry Ryans and Na’il Diggs were two of the more well-known instructors on hand and each passed along his vast knowledge of the game.
Those who benefited most from the experience of the one-time professionals were the prospects and several underclassmen opened up eyes of the assembled staff. That, of course, bodes particularly well for a future return to the Golden State and another workout.
In the meantime, between now and then, plenty of research will take place on the recruits in attendance as Ryans and Diggs plan to provide evaluations for the many in attendance. Without further ado, here’s a closer look at the individuals who left a last impression.
Griffin Paler, QB, Long Beach Poly (CA): The 6-foot-1 and 155-pound freshman comes from one of the nation’s premier programs and had no problem with doing well in this kind of environment.
Jack Graham, QB, Citrus Hill (CA): Known primarily in the past, unfair or not, as a run-first option due to his uncanny athleticism, the 6-3 and 185-pound junior showed off an improving arm.
Rashad Scott, WR, Helix (CA): A Mountain West Conference target the 6-foot and 173-pound sophomore turned heads during the skills testing. Nothing changed with one-on-ones, either.
Dominick Silvels, WR, Patrick Henry (CA): The 6-3 and 193-pound junior was a big target down in the red zone and frequently got the better of exchanges against many overmatched opponents.
Tyler Pinuelas, TE, Lutheran (CA): Another recruit with a big body, the 6-2 and 190-pound junior found ways to get open in the flat, along the sideline, over the middle and deep down the field.
Aiden Sharp, LB, Mater Dei (CA): The 6-2 and 190-pound junior was versatile. He lined up at receiver and linebacker. His true value, however, just might be on special teams as a long snapper.
Dominic Barandica, LB, Gregori (CA): Seemingly ahead of his time, the 6-foot and 215-pound made a big impact on the field and recently did the same off the field with research for helmet safety.
Michael Porter, DB, Norco (CA): The 5-11 and 170-pound junior appeared eager to prove his true worth. Mission accomplished. There was an undeniable buzz surrounding him by day’s end.
Josh Bornes, LB, San Marcos (CA): Considering the high-level of play he’s accustomed to at his well-respected school, it comes as no surprise to learn the 6-foot 175-pound sophomore thrived.
Travis Voight, LB, Casa Grande (CA): The 6-foot and 225-pound junior was in the right place at the right time, and with a unique nose for the ball, he was involved multiple memorable plays.
Drew Jeffers, LB, Columbine (CO): Equipped with a frame built for growth in the future, the 6-2 and 190-pound sophomore is heading in the right direction and his effort was an indication of that.
Davey Folsom, OL, Point Loma (CA): The 6-4 and 295-pound sophomore was a man among boys, despite being largely inexperienced. Still, there’s no denying the fact that he possesses upside.
Nicholas Berry, OL, Turlock (CA): Somewhat low to the ground and compact, the 6-2 and 305-pound junior understands how to use mass to his advantage and is consistently in good position.
Arthur Daniels, OL, Point Loma (CA): The 6-3 and 255-pound junior has benefitted from good coaching during his journey thus far. The path ahead for him appears to be cleared for success.
Braden Evans, DL, Durango (CO): The road trip for the 6-4 and 225-pound junior was worthwhile after he received extra reps, and in the process, made significant strides toward improving.
The Coaches using their expertise and determination really helped the prospects by redefining and honing in on the techniques and talents already in place.
Thank You BlueGrey.
