Blue-Grey All-American Combine: South Carolina Regional Scouting Report (2016)
Year in, and year out, at least one or two hidden gems are discovered during the Blue-Grey All-American Combine (South Carolina Regional). In retrospect, this time around after the recent workout, the total might end up being higher than the average in the not so distant past.
With one of its native sons back in town, NFL veteran Larry Ryans served as lead instructor in Greenville (SC). Working alongside several of his one-time professional peers, the group as a whole appeared to walk away impressed with the collection of talent in attendance.
Trey Robinson, QB, Mountain Heritage (NC): The 6-foot and 198-pound sophomore played with the poise of a veteran, and accordingly, has already received interest from the Southern Conference.
Devon Davidson, QB, Asheville (NC): One of the more experienced prospects, the 6-1 and 174-pound junior had little, or no trouble, grasping many of the afternoon’s concepts.
Dezmond Moorman, RB, Roberson (NC): The 5-10 and 170-pound was quick and elusive. When the time called for some tough running, he also delivered desired results to the staff.
Kyler Stocks, RB, West Henderson (NC): Strong and fast, a good balance for obvious reasons, the 5-11 and 180-pound junior met, and exceeded, most expectations in this setting.
Camryn Johnson, WR, Lake Marion (SC): The 6-4 and 190-pound junior moved well for his size. With a bit more speed training, sky’s the limit for this big target down in the red zone.
Ethan Piercy, WR, Fort Mill (SC): Explosive off the line, a good route runner, with a good set of hands, the 6-foot and 180-pound junior emerged as a favorite of the signal-callers.
Zykeith Abercrombie, DB, Emerald (SC): The 5-11 and 180-pound sophomore has a high ceiling. With continued improvement, he could develop into a legit NCAA Division I target.
Cole Burleson, DB, Mountain Heritage (NC): When it comes to skill set and frame colleges are looking for in a recruit at his spot, the 6-3 and 170-pound junior has the bases covered.
Joseph Moultrie, LB, Timberland (SC): The 5-10 and 185-pound junior met all the requirements during the skills testing portion and then held his own once the one-on-ones started.
Nate Von Ryswyk, LB, Bryan County (GA): Tabbed as one to watch before things got going, based on an improving resume, the 6-3 and 176-pound junior did not disappoint anyone.
Adam Shuford, LB, Mountain Heritage (NC): The 5-10 and 191-pound junior lived up to the hype of being known as a tackling machine. Fundamentally sound, he impressed throughout.
Kaleb Huss, OL, Overhills (NC): Standing head and shoulders above most of his counterparts, the 6-4 and 310-pound junior was more than just a big body. He was surprisingly athletic.
Austin Goforth, OL, Tuscola (NC): The 6-2 and 250-pound junior used a business-like approach to open plenty of eyes and the no-nonsense demeanor was an endearing quality.
Nic Huff, DL, North Scurry (NC): One of the pound-for-pound strongest competitors on hand, the 6-2 and 260-pound junior essentially muscled his way into plenty of discussions.
Ronnie McPherson, DL, Socastee (SC): The 6-4 and 195-pound was difficult to deal with off the edge. Some added bulk could only help his cause, not hurt his above-average speed.
