Blue-Grey All-American Combine: South Florida Regional Scouting Report (2019)
No better time than now to focus on the future, and accordingly, the first stop on this year’s nationwide circuit recently took place at the All-American Combine (South Florida Regional).
NFL veteran Ken Stills was lead instructor this time and had plenty of help along the way from the likes of NFL veteran trainers Rodney Beasley and Reggie Young, among many others.
What follows is a closer look at multiple prospects who left a lasting impression on the powers that be, the staff of one-time professional, turned coaches, and mentors for that matter.
C.J. Shedd, QB, Cypress Lake (FL): The 6-foot-2 and 190-pound junior turned several heads in attendance and has communicated with Bowling Green, Central Florida and Western Kentucky.
Gabe Weldon, QB, Middleton (FL): Big and strong, also somewhat surprisingly athletic, the 6-5 and 210-pound junior passed eye test. His future appears particularly bright.
Jordan Niles, RB, Clearwater Central Catholic (FL): Already on the radar of scouts, the 5-8 and 183-pound junior has an offer from Southern Miss and interest from Michigan State.
Derrel Kelley, RB, St. Petersburg (FL): A workout warrior, the 5-10 and 168-pound junior did well during the skills testing. It was more of the same during the one-on-one session.
Timothy Young, WR, Tampa Catholic (FL): Both fast and quick, the 5-11 and 156-pound junior was good over the middle, along the sideline and deep down the field.
Darrion Robinson, WR, Pasco (FL): The 5-10 and 160-pound junior was shifty, with plenty of wiggle, and often times, made the difficult catch look remarkably routine.
Chendrick Cann, DB, Clearwater (FL): Florida International, Marshall and Pitt are just a few programs to reach out in the not so distant past to the 5-11 and 160-pound junior.
Roman Parodie, DB, Cardinal Gibbons (FL): Well-rounded, it comes as no surprise to learn that Tulane and Western Kentucky have talked with the 6-1 and 170-pound junior.
Makai Sawtelle, LB, Jensen Beach (FL): The 6-2 and 180-pound junior was agile and strong, ideal traits for someone at the second level. He’s a target of Central Florida and South Florida.
Jalen Williams, LB, Tampa Catholic (FL): Equipped with a good frame, the 6-foot and 200-pound junior has more than enough upside to warrant interest from schools.
Zach Perkins, OL, Berkeley Prep (FL): Seemingly in class all his own, the 6-5 and 310-pound junior has scholarships from Howard, Southern Miss and Western Kentucky.
James Wayne, OL, Treasure Coast (FL): Pitt was one the first teams to open the lines of communication with the 6-4 and 290-pound junior. Florida seems to be in the mix, too.
Dylan Davis, DL, Saint Stephens Episcopal (FL): Difficult to deal with down in the trenches, the 6-4 and 255-pound junior did just about whatever he pleased in this setting.
Damon Donalds, DL, Community School of Naples (FL): Young, with room for growth, the 6-2 and 260-pound sophomore did well. Same thing goes for Elijah Colon of Fivay (FL).

Additionally, those who did well at this workout, in due time, could be invited to one of the brand’s All-American Bowls held at NFL stadium and nationally broadcast on ESPN’s family of networks.
Games take place at Dallas Cowboys’ AT&T Stadium, Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ Raymond James Stadium, Houston Texans’ NRG Stadium or Jacksonville Jaguars’ EverBank Field, among other venues.
Moving forward, the Blue-Grey Football Selection Committee will consider a number of different factors before making an all-important decision on potential invites to the All-American Bowl. Stay tuned.
