Blue-Grey All-American Combine: Southern Regional Scouting Report (2017)

NCAA Division I target Devin Grier was among the prospects in attendance at the Blue-Grey All-American Combine located outside of Atlanta (GA).
One of the better turnouts on the nationwide circuit, on an annual basis, takes place at the Blue-Grey All-American Combine (Southern Regional).
With NFL veterans Larry Ryans and Dialleo Burks as instructors, this year’s workout at LaGrange College (GA) was no different from others in the past.
There was plenty of talent in attendance, with a good balance of high-profile prospects and under-the-radar recruits, each eager to prove themselves.
What follows is a closer look at the many individuals on hand, many who left a lasting impression on Ryans and the one-time professional coaches.
Anthony Beck, QB, South Effingham (GA): The 6-foot-3 and 205-pound junior has talked with teams from the Sun Belt Conference. An offer could be right around the corner, in fact.
Jaqueveon Watkins, RB, Perry (GA): On the ground, in the passing game, the 5-11 and 178-pound junior did well. Same can be said for Chris Stovall from Miller County (GA).
Javoris Smith, WR, Twiggs County (GA): The 5-9 and 150-pound junior did a little bit of everything, most of it well. No surprise, he caught the attention of the brand’s staff.
Kobe Lewis, WR, Americus-Sumter (GA): The 5-11 and 185-pound junior opened up eyes in the 40-yard dash and broad jump, both good indicators of explosiveness.
Clayton Bardall, TE, North Forsyth (GA): A big target, particularly so down around the red zone, the 6-3 and 205-pound junior gave opponents fits from start to finish.
Devin Grier, DB, Discovery (GA): The 5-11 and 175-pound junior has been in contact with Air Force and South Carolina State, among a handful of other schools.
Justin Stevens, DB, Veterans (GA): Never one to back down from a challenge during one-one-ones, the 5-11 and 172-pound junior got the better of many exchanges.
Rahjon Holden, LB, Brooks County (GA): The 6-foot and 199-pound junior appears to be natural fit in the middle. Still, he made several plays from sideline to sideline.
Alton Dennis LB, Northeast (GA): The 6-foot and 200-pound junior turned heads, with Jonathan Perry from Hampton (GA) and Jordan Veneziale from North Paulding (GA).
Billy Parker, OL, Wayne County (GA): Reliable out on the edge, the 6-5 and 250-pound junior has the attention of American Athletic Conference, notably Central Florida.
Dylan Cole, OL, Dalton (GA): The 6-4 and 260-pound junior has emerged as a legit target of the Sun Belt Conference and Georgia State is among the potential suitors.
Juaquin Aguillares, OL, Chestatee (GA): The 6-4 and 310-pound sophomore held his own, as did Devin Jenkins from Westpoint (AL) and Nick Price from North Cobb (GA).
Harrison Taylor, DL, Eagle’s Landing (GA): Big and fast, the 6-4 and 225-pound junior has five offers with Eastern Kentucky and Southern Miss in the mix for a commitment.
Michael Fairbanks, DL, McEachern (GA): The 6-3 and 250-pound junior with multiple offers and ACC interest was unable to make an appearance, but remains on the radar.
Editor’s Note: Those who did well at this workout, in time, could be invited to one of the brand’s All-American Bowls held at NFL stadium and nationally broadcast on ESPN’s family of networks.
The games take place at Dallas Cowboys’ AT&T Stadium, Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ Raymond James Stadium, Jacksonville Jaguars’ EverBank Field or San Francisco 49ers’ Levi’s Stadium.
Moving forward, the Blue-Grey Football Selection Committee will consider a number of different factors before making an all-important decision on invites to the All-American Bowl. Stay tuned.
