Blue-Grey Regional Combine: Midwest Scouting Report (2015)
In another one of many recent first-time stops for Blue-Grey Football, the brand visited Chicago, and Illinois in general, this past weekend for one of our Regional Combines. Rest assured, there were skilled players at seemingly every position out on the gridiron.
NFL veterans Mark McMillian and Nate Turner gave back to the game and were lead instructors at the workout. Each one had nothing but good things to say about the recruits in attendance. That said, here’s an inside look at who left a lasting impression.
Dakota Turner, QB, Simeon (IL): The 6-4 and 220-pound junior was the premier passer on hand. Not surprisingly, Austin Peay, North Dakota, Southern Illinois and UNLV are among the many programs who have expressed interest in him. His first offer is on the way.
Terrance Allen, QB, Elgin (IL): Athletic as they come, the 6-3 and 185-pound junior also has a live arm and made good decisions in this environment. He has plenty of upside.
James Robinson, RB, Rockford Lutheran (IL): The 5-10 and 203-pound junior was difficult to stop and has offers from Ball State, Illinois State and Iowa. And those are just a few.
Juwuane Parchman, WR, Auburn (IL): An Illinois commit, the 6-1 and 190-pound junior did nothing to tarnish his growing reputation as one of the region’s truly elite-level prospects.
Stori Emerson, WR, Ben Davis (IN): The 6-2 and 190-pound junior and Miami (OH) commit was on the official roster, but then unable to attend. Nevertheless, he remains on the radar.
Matt Cherry, WR, Hinsdale Central (IL): A big target with good hands, the 6-3 and 180-pound junior was a force to be reckon with once the one-on-ones started, particularly in the red zone.
Ricky Nichols, WR, Blue Springs South (MO): The 6-2 and 180-pound junior was versatile. Whether it was over the middle, along the sideline or vertical down the field, he delivered.
Josh Hayes, DB, Pike (IN): Scheduled to workout, the 6-foot, 180-pound junior and Purdue commit did not compete, but could soon join the Blue-Grey All-American Bowl Watch List.
Marcus Hayes, DB, Rockford Lutheran (IL): The 6-1 and 175-pound sophomore was without question the top underclassman. Illinois, Ball State and Minnesota have contacted him.
Fernando Vargas, DL, Elgin (IL): With a motor that essentially went full speed from start to finish here, the 6-1 and 300-pound junior ended up making the most of his opportunities.
