Blue-Grey Super Combine: Mid-Atlantic Scouting Report (2015)

Landon Holden was among the many talented recruits in attendance at the recent Blue-Grey Super Combine in Richmond (VA).

It’s official, after this past weekend, the first of five nationwide Blue-Grey Super Combines is now officially in the books after some of the East Coast’s premier prospects participated at the training facility for the Washington Redskins.

NFL veterans Arlen Harris, Tavon Mason and Ty Nsehke appeared more than happy to pass along their knowledge of the game at the workout in Richmond (VA). That said, here’s a look at the recruits who left a lasting impression.

Jason Dambach, QB, Riverside (PA): The 6-foot-2 and 185-pound senior-to-be was expected to be one of the top players at his position. And he delivered. Eastern Michigan, Army and Navy are among the schools interest in him.

Anthony Butler, QB, Roman Catholic (PA): An underclassman, the 6-4 and 237-pound junior-to-be played with the poise of a varsity veteran. Boston College, Miami and Purdue have been in contact in the not so distant past. This time next year, there’s no telling how good he’ll be. Sky’s the limit. Stay tuned.

JoVonn Quillen, ATH, Hampton (VA): The 6-2 and 185-pound senior-to-be, who is also a Virginia Tech commit, planned to attend the invite-only session. Unfortunately, he didn’t make the trip. Nevertheless, he remains on the radar.

Lawrence Brown, RB, Southside (NC): Those who underestimated the skills of the 5-8 and 185-pound senior-to-be often paid the price. Schools in the American Athletic Conference, more specifically East Carolina, have reached out.

Montel Goods, RB, Northwood (NC): The 5-10 and 205-pound senior-to-be was a handful to deal with, especially once he was heading in the right direction. Perhaps more impressive was his ability to catch the ball out of the backfield.

Cade Johnson, WR, Redwood Valley (MN): As sure-handed as they come, the 6-foot and 175-pound senior-to-be caught seemingly everything thrown in his direction. Dropping a pass was simply not an option in this setting.

Hunter Smith, WR, Foxcroft Academy (ME): The 6-4 and 180-pound senior-to-be was a favorite of the signal-callers due in large part to his frame. Down around the red zone during the one-on-ones, he was particularly difficult to stop.

Landon Holden, LB, Chapman (SC): There was plenty of hype surrounding the 6-2 and 210-pound senior-to-be. He lived up to the hype, as well. Duke, Georgia Tech, Louisville and North Carolina are a few of his potential suitors.

William McDermitt, LB, Wahama (WV): The 5-10 and 195-pound senior-to-be was a busy man at the second level and took on everyone in front of him. More times than not, in fact, he came out on the better end of the exchanges.

Dallas Hartle, DL, Ledford (NC): A headache for opponents, the 6-4 and 200-pound senior-to-be did well. No one could match his speed. With added bulk, he could be a true difference-maker. A switch to linebacker is also a possibility.
