Blue-Grey All-American Combine: East Texas Regional Scouting Report (2022)

Sun Belt Conference target Makenzie McGill was among the prospects in attendance at the Blue-Grey All-American Combine (East Texas Regional).

In workout’s debut in this part of the Lone Star State, also the country for that matter, the turnout and results exceeded expectations at the Blue-Grey All-American Combine (East Texas Regional).

NFL veteran trainers Reggie Young and Gerard Lewis were the lead instructors this time around, and both of them mind you, had nothing but good things to say about the overall collection of talent.

Although there were many scholarship-worthy prospects in attendance, numerous others fit in that category. Below is a preview of some of the top performers, each who can now be considered as possible All-American Bowl candidates for one of the upcoming games later on this year.

Jaden Osborne, QB, 2023, Ruston (LA): The 6-foot and 170-pounder took charge from the start and finished strong. This should come as a little, or no surprise, Louisiana Tech is interested.

Braden Bennett, QB. 2023, Mount Vernon (TX): The 5-10 and 170-pounder has been in contact with Northern Arizona and it will be interesting to monitor that situation.

Collier Slone, QB, 2024, Marshall (TX): The 6-1 and 210-pounder opened up some eyes. Same thing can be said his underclassman counterpart Cole Watson from Tatum (TX).

Jacoby Norris. RB, 2023, Tatum (TX): The 5-9 and 180-pounder is on the radar of SMU, among others schools. Safe to say, he’s destined to play on Saturdays at the next level.

Chauncey Lee, RB, 2023, West Monroe (LA): The 5-9 and 180-pounder could find a home with a team like Louisiana Tech. Still, the plan for him is to keep his options open.

Makenzie McGill, RB, 2023, Mount Vernon (TX): Texas State was the first to jump on the bandwagon of the 5-10 and 185-pounder. It appears as if Washington State is next.

Kevin Pierce, RB, 2023, Troup (TX): Lamar seems to be an emerging fan of the 6-3 and 185-pounder. Rightfully so, given his well-rounded effort in this kind of environment.

Aaron Jackson, WR, 2023, Monroe (LA): The 6-1 and 166-pounder has no shortage of potential suitors, with Jackson State and Mississippi State most likely out in front right now.

Ayden Exum, WR, 2023, North Lamar (TX): The 6-4 and 200-pounder opened up eyes, so did Brady Fuselier from Lumberton (TX) and Joseph Gandy from Mineola (TX).

Gabriel Hernandez, OL, 2023, Lumberton (TX): Lamar, Louisiana Lafayette and Stephen F. Austin just might be potential future destinations for the 6-3 and 280-pounder.

Seth Letot, OL, 2023, Mount Vernon (TX): Big and strong, and somewhat surprising athletic with his sizable frame, the 6-3 and 285-pounder went out and got the job done.

Landon Sylvie, DB, 2024, Calvary Baptist Academy (LA): The 5-9 and 165-pounder did not back down from challenges. He competed throughout and earned the respect of his peers.

Bo Hammons, LB, 2023, Beckville (TX): Running backs and tight ends alike, the opponent did not matter, the 5-10 and 204-pounder was up to the task. He took on anyone and everything.

Boone Morris, DL, 2024, Mt. Vernon (TX): The 6-3 and 215-pounder has an offer from North Texas already and the scholarship figures to be the first of many to come. You heard it here first.

Jeremiah Jeffers-Wright, DL, 2024, Alexandria (LA): The 6-2 and 250-pounder turned heads, with Jeremiah Reed from Northwood (LA) and Kemarion Ivory from Haynesville (LA).

Games take place at Cowboys’ AT&T Stadium, Buccaneers’ Raymond James Stadium, Falcons’ Mercedes Benz Stadium, Texans’ NRG Stadium or Jaguars’ EverBank Field, among other venues. 

Moving forward, the Blue-Grey Football Selection Committee will consider a number of different factors before making any decision on potential invites to the All-American Bowl. Stay tuned.
