Blue-Grey All-American Combine: Mid-Atlantic Regional Scouting Report (2016)

Promising prospect Jason Brown emerged as one of the top recruits at the recent Blue-Grey All-American Combine (Mid-Atlantic Regional) in Richmond (VA).

In only the second year of holding the Blue-Grey All-American Combine over at Bon Secours Washington Redskins’ Training Facility, expectations were still reasonably high given the overall collection of talent discovered during a stop not long ago in Richmond (VA).

With NFL veterans Larry Ryans, Billy McMullen, Devon Morgan and NFL trainer extraordinaire Rodney Beasley serving as the instructors, there were no surprises as the prospects in attendance lived up to the standard at this past weekend’s Mid-Atlantic Regional.

Darriel Mack, QB, Norview (VA): The 6-foot-3 and 210-pound junior was arguably the marquee name. Rightfully so, considering his five offers, including Virginia and Virginia Tech.

Jason Brown, QB, American Heritage (FL): The trip up North was worthwhile for the 6-3 and 195-pound junior. He, perhaps more so than any of his peers, left a lasting impression.

Daenard Branch, WR, Kinston (NC): The 6-foot and 189-pound junior was a familiar face in the crowd after doing well on last year’s workout circuit. An encore effort was delivered.

Zach Pennycuff, WR, Jamestown (VA): With a frame coveted by most colleges all over the country, the 6-2 and 195-pound turned his share of heads and that was from start to finish.

Michael Horsford, WR, Douglas Freeman (VA): The 6-1 and 165-pound sophomore has plenty of upside. Same thing can be said about Patrick Gorman from Douglas Freeman (VA).

Jebril Murray, WR, Atlee (WR): Regardless of class, the 5-11 and 175-pound sophomore with interest from schools in the ACC might develop in to the best of the entire bunch.

Aaron Motley, LB, Highland Springs (VA): The 6-1 and 235-pound junior is as physical as they come at the second level, and also, can put his hand in the ground and rush off edge.

Sharmane Alexander, LB, Brunswick (VA): No stranger to the staff or how things run, the 6-foot and 195-pound junior had little, or no, trouble impressing coaches and scouts.

Dohnavyn Jefferson, DB, Stone Bridge (VA): The 5-11 and 175-pound junior did not back down from any challenge. He often, in fact, got the better exchange of each exchange.

Emmanuel Walker DB, Southern Wayne (NC): After taking reps at quarterback, the 5-11 and 174-pound junior lined up in the secondary and there was no drop off in production.

Jess Speight, OL, Collegiate (VA): The 6-4 and 270-pound junior was able to showcase his brute strength throughout. At times, worth mentioning, he displayed some nimbleness.

Dexter Klock, OL, Lafayette (VA): A physical specimen, the 6-4 and 265-pound junior look the part. He played the part, as well, though consistency will be key moving forward.

Noah Barnes, DL, Cleveland (NC): The 6-5 and 275-pound junior has the size. His height and weight jump off the page, also the screen. With a bit more polishing, he’ll have options.

Bryan Wallace, DL, Clarke County (VA): Young and raw, the 6-3 and 205-pound sophomore has some good things going for him. Working on his craft is the next order of business.
