Blue-Grey Regional Combine: Mid-Atlantic Scouting Report (2015)
As has been the case in so many year’s past, there were plenty of expectations leading up to the recent Blue-Grey Regional Combine at the Philadelphia Eagles’ NovaCare Complex. True to form, the level of talent of field matched the hype surrounding the workout beforehand.
Back in his old stomping grounds after playing in the City of Bortherly Love for most of his career, NFL veteran Mark McMillian was there to help instruct some of the East Coast’s premier players. Fellow one-time professionals Arlen Harris and Vince Papale were also present.
In terms of the region’s more high-profile prospects around, the Class of 2016 was particularly well-represented. There certainly was no shortage of skilled underclassmen either. So, without further delay, here’s an inside look at several individuals who left a lasting impression.
Anthony Butler, QB, Roman Catholic (PA): The 6-foot-4 and 237-pound sophomore is a bit a raw. At this stage of the game, anyway. His upside, however, is undeniable.
Damon Hazelton, WR, Franklin (MD): With interest from the ACC, most notably Miami, the 6-4 and 200-pound junior is on the verge of making a national name for himself.
Jelani Green, WR, Longwood (NY): The 6-foot and 170-pound junior gave opponents fits from start to finish. Accordingly, schools such as Rutgers and Syracuse are interested.
Javier Buffalo, WR, Franklin (PA): Despite plenty of competition at the position, the 5-11 and and 170-pound junior was able to separate himself from his peers. Keep an eye on him.
Dahmeer Duvernay, WR, Roman Catholic (PA): A youngster with a chip on his shoulder, the 5-9 and 160-pound sophomore took advantage of more than a few opportunities.
Jordan Guillory, RB, Pennridge (PA): The 6-foot and 185-pound junior did well, along with peers Mikal Morris-Hancox of Bensalem (PA) and JaQuan Jones of Phillipsburg (NJ).
Bo Melton, ATH, Cedar Creek (NJ): The 6-1 and 180-pound sophomore opened up plenty of eyes with his play on the defensive side of the ball and a truly relentless work ethic.
Naiim Huff, ATH, Upper Dublin (PA): Ceilings don’t get much higher than his. This time next year, the 6-foot and 175-pound sophomore will have multiple potential suitors.
Cole Thurston, DB, Windsor (NY): The 5-11 and 158-pound junior rarely, if ever, backed down from a challenge. Needless to say, he made his opponents work for everything.
Johncarlo Valentin, OL, Imhotep Institute (PA): A man among boys, the 6-4 and 320-pound junior has double digit offers, including Michigan and Virginia Tech this past week.
Charly Timite, DL, Simon Gratz (PA): The 6-3 and 256-pound junior has been in contact with Boston College and Penn State, among others. Stay tuned. He’s about to blow up.
Tymir Oliver, DL, West Catholic (PA): With a scholarship count that continues to grow, the 6-3 and 258-pound junior proved that all of the interest he’s received is justified.
Nate Norris, LB, Central Bucks South (PA): The 6-1 and 210-pound sophomore turned heads once the skills testing started. Then he held his own during the one-on-ones.
Audley Isaacs, LB, Valley Forge Military (PA): This time next year, we wouldn’t be overly surprised to see the 6-foot and 205-pound sophomore have a handful of offers.
DaQuan Crosby, LB, Vineland (MD): The 6-1 and 205-pound sophomore was not intimidated by many of his experienced counterparts. He went out and handled business.
